To all members, potential members, wannabe members or just plain generous donors.
It's dues time again for PFLAG. In the next months, we will have to submit our membership lists to PFLAG National so we need to know who is an active (dues paying) member and who is not. We are having our monthly meeting this week on Wed. the 10th so that would be an excellent time to check in, see what's happening and get current with your dues in person.
Dues are $20 a year per household. $15 of that goes to PFLAG national, so we greatly appreciate any additional donations which we can use locally.
Members can mail their check to PFLAG-Silver City, PO Box 813, Silver City, NM 88062.
If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, please indicate that. Damie will mail you a receipt.

How many times in your life will you have the opportunity to help elect
BOTH U. S. Senators in the same election, from the State having the
smallest population in the USA?
In all likelihood, it will happen only once, and this is the election and the year to do it.
EqualityGiving has just endorsed Dr. Chris Rothfuss running for the U.
S. Senate in Wyoming against Neanderthal Republican Senator Mike Enzi.
Chris joins EqualityGiving endorsed, Nick Carter, who is running
against Sen. John Barrasso, who was appointed to fill the seat vacated
by the death of Sen. Craig Thomas.
Here are the facts:
1. Wyoming has a total population of about 500,000 residents.
2. Six of the last eight Governors have been Democrats.
3. Liberal Kennedy Democrat, Sen. Gale McGee, was elected to several
terms from Wyoming until the Reagan years turned Wyoming politics
upside down.
4. For the first time in many years, "local boy made good", (?), Dick Cheney, will NOT be on the ballot in Wyoming.
5. Dr. Chris Rothfuss vs. Sen Enzi; and Attorney Nick Carter vs. Sen
Barrosso are BOTH articulate, young, fair minded candidates, who only
need 125,000 votes to win! (That is LESS than most Congressional
Candidates need to claim victory.)
6. In 2004, 675 Democrats participated in the Presidential caucuses to
choose delegates to the Democratic National Convention. In 2008, over
8500 Democrats participated in the caucuses.
7. The situation in Wyoming is similar to the situation in Montana in
2006, when Sen. Jon Tester defeated incumbent Sen. Conrad Burns by a
3,000 vote margin, thus turning control of the U. S. Senate over to the
Democrats.
You can help create THE WYOMING SURPRISE on November 4!
Just imagine the consternation of just about everyone in the media and
the incredulity of the political pundits, if the LBGT Community can be
instrumental in electing TWO United States Senators from Wyoming.
Just ten years ago next month, Matthew Shepard was beaten and left to
die leaning against a fence outside of Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew's
death touched the individual hearts and the consciousness of the Planet
and the USA in a way which no other hate crime has ever done.
Ten years later, what poetic justice it will be when we help elect Nick
Carter and Chris Rothfuss to the United States Senate from the State of
Wyoming.
Visit the Rothfuss for Senate and the Nick Carter for Senate websites,
and see for yourself why creating "The Wyoming Surprise" is such an
important and exciting task.
