Friday, June 18th
Coalition Building For A New Age
Friday June 18, 2010
1:00PM to 4:00PM

New Mexico GLBTQ Centers in collaboration with EQNM and PFLAG New Mexico invite all GLBTQ organizations, individual activists and our allies to a New Mexico community capacity building event.

We are in a new and changing environment, our friends drag their feet, our opponents use increasingly vile lies and tactics, resources both human and financial are tight. Our full equality and quality of life depend on our working together in ways we have not worked together before.

Representatives of CenterLink, InterPride, EQNM and PFLAG New Mexico will present a workshop on Coalition Building for a New Age. Come learn why collaboration is critical, How to find coalition partners and how to approach them and the keys to a successful coalition project. Coalition Building For A New Age is an opportunity to learn, network and have fun during the gayest weekend in Las Cruces history.

This is event is part of New Mexico GLBTQ Centers' Las Cruces Grand Opening and is during Southern New Mexico Pride. This year Pride in Las Cruces is bigger than ever with multiple events over three days. The complete schedules are at Southern New Mexico Pride’s website and New Mexico GLBTQ Centers’ website.

This is a free event. Donations will be accepted and will be divided between New Mexico GLBTQ Centers, EQNM and PFLAG New Mexico.

Pride Cinema at The Center (family friendly event)
7pm – 9pm

If you like Glee, you’ll like this month’s feature! The movie and popcorn are on us; join us for the monthly Pride Cinema at The Center. The film: “Camp” (2003) PG-13 Camp Ovation is a performing arts summer camp where talented kids come to spread their wings. Among them are Vlad (Daniel Letterle), a "bona fide straight boy"; Ellen (Joanna Chilcoat), a megastar with huge insecurities; and Michael (Robin de Jesus), who's struggling with his sexual identity. Their director, Bert Hanlon (Don Dixon), is a washed-up has-been -- but the kids have at least as much to teach him as he has to teach them.
