NEW GNETWORK and SWANS MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS, (or how to become a card carrying queer or queer ally)
The History
About 15 years ago the “gay” community in Grant County area (this means lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, questioning, and any of their allies), had an art auction. Victoria Amador PhD wanted to write off her Turkish rug donation, so “we” formed a nonprofit (no taxes) organization which Jack Ellis named SouthWest Activities Network Society (SWANS). Many donations, dollars and distributions have come and gone since. Over $40,000 actually. This has been distributed in the LGBT community for various needs over the years, including maintaining this website. Many people have benefited from SWANS by receiving small scholarships, cash gifts and money for emergency expenses etc.
The SWANS Board
501-c-3 organizations must have a Board. We have one. They must have members. For starters, membership is available for a $10 fee ($15 for couples). You will also be allowed to vote at the annual meeting on the SWANS decisions which require input and to run for office. Positions are filled each year and include President, Vice President (in charge of all Vices) Secretary/Treasurer. Missionary, 69, Top, Bottom and Doggie positions are up to the individual members and do not require a vote.
How it Works
All membership renewal will be annual now. Besides all the accolades and praise from your peers, you will receive a secret prize to be decided on at a later date by the Publishers Clearing House janitors.
